Job Purpose: 

The purpose of the role is to provide technical support to DMC’s I.T. infrastructure and service delivery functions. The post holder will have previous I.T. experience in a commercial environment. Be able to work in a small team and have a flexible approach to daily tasks. Candidates should have good knowledge of implementations and systems support vis shared services and must be aware of current trends and new developments within the I.T. Industry.   

Provide initial (1st Line) technical support to staff, to ensure that requests for support are dealt with promptly and appropriately and to maintain existing hardware and software to set standards with the Senior IT Lead. Principal responsibilities will include and are not restricted to:

1.           Key Responsibilities  

  1. Staffing of the Service Desk, answering and logging calls and emails, providing first-line support to callers where appropriate and forwarding calls on to relevant staff or other support organisations for resolution. Providing feedback to callers on problem resolution status
  2. Updating Service Desk requests
  3. Redirect or escalate support requests to the IT Support Officer when required.
  4. Obtain hardware and software quotes, type up Purchase Orders and follow up orders.
  5. Processing of all deliveries to the department, including matching to work orders, updating asset database, creating associated installation service calls and liaison with end user recipients
  6. Assist with the deployment of PCs, tablets, mobile phones and associated peripherals including new installations and the redeployment of existing equipment to agreed standards and configurations
  7. Assist with the installation and configuration of computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
  8. Gain an understanding of how to investigate, diagnose and solve computer software and hardware faults
  9. Assist with maintenance of existing computers and peripherals to agreed standards by performing upgrades, new installations and carrying out routine procedures such as backups
  10. Assist in the compilation and maintenance of an accurate inventory of hardware and software
  11. Report hardware faults to third party companies, return hardware to third
